Rejoice Creative Music Studio

We are an inclusive boutique music studio that has been practising since 2011. We work primarily with children of all abilities through music education and music therapy. We believe that every individual has the ability to respond to music and be enriched by it.

Jane is a qualified music therapist(MT-BC) and an Orff-Schulwerk certified music educator. She completed her Bachelors in Music(Hons) at University of Birmingham on a Public Service Commission’s Overseas Specialist Award. Upon her graduation, she taught general music and examination music at a local secondary school where she subsequently served as the Head of the Aesthetics Department, organizing and overseeing the performing arts programmes in school. In her stint as an Arts Education Officer with the Ministry of Education, she co-led curriculum reviews and training workshops.

Believing that music had the potential to impact others beyond the classroom, she pursued her Masters in Music Therapy at New York University. She had the opportunity to observe and learn from experts in the field. She shored up experience through her fieldwork at a special needs school and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She completed a year long internship at Bronx Psychiatric Hospital, working with people of all ages coping with varying mental health disorders. Resonating with the Nordoff-Robbins Creative Music Therapy approach, she volunteered at Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Center at the NYU throughout her time in NYC.

Upon her return she resumed her work in both music education and music therapy, working with children with special needs as well as the elderly with dementia.  Apart from her clinical work, she has conducted talks about music therapy. Currently, she focuses on working with children with special needs, exploring ways in which music can support their learning and developmental journeys.
